Felipe Lopez Was 'King of New York' and the first HighSchool #Athlete to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated. This was before Kevin Garnett or LeBron James or Jabari Parker appeared on the magazine's cover prior to college. He was called the Dominican Michael Jordan. His Senior year in High School he won Gatorade Player of the Year, USA Today, Parade and McDonald's All-American Game MVP. Every award possible. Lopez was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the 24th pick in the 1998 NBA Draft and was immediately traded to the Vancouver Grizzlies Grizzlies traded Lopez to the Washington Wizards Lopez last played in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves

After his NBA career Felipe Lopez has worked with President Barack Obama and NBA Care as an ambassador inspiring thousands of kids.
