By virtually every statistical measure, Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves is already among the game’s top players. During his incredible rookie season, the outfielder seemingly broke records every week. But it’s his confidence that sets him apart.

"When I’m at bat, I don’t think," says the 20-year-old from Venezuela. "I just see the ball and swing.”

That approach led to 26 home runs, including a franchise record eight leadoff dingers. In the playoffs, Acuna went to another level, becoming the youngest player in league history to hit a grand slam on the game’s biggest stage.

What’s next for the kid they call El Abusador? Well, his goals are set much higher: He wants to win a batting title. He wants to be an All-Star. And he wants to win the triple crown. We wouldn’t bet against him.
